The Proliferation of the Closed Minded Music Consumer
“If it doesn’t have Drake or Weezy on it. I ain’t buyin it!” – NOT5150
The proliferation of closed minded music consumers has become a phenomenon akin to Bubonic plague. They don’t read, they hate to crate dig, and they turn their noses up at suggestions. They only support what they hear played on the radio. Let’s face it… They constantly rotate the same fifteen or twenty songs on the radio which doesn’t leave room for exposure to much else and apparently that’s the way people like it. It’s the most popular radio programming format in the world. I’m not saying Hip Hop is dead but it will never reach the pinnacle it rested so comfortably upon during the nineties. Not giving music a proper listen simply because Drake and Weezy aren’t featured on a track would be a really good place to start if your looking for reasons. Listen people, there is so much free music available by people just trying to get on the radio. Give them a chance. At the very least you should be supporting some of your local up and coming artists.
